Outside the village were three watermills that ground the wheat. From contracts of 1828, water mills were operating in Kastanitsa. Today, the ruins of the last watermill that survived until about 1970 are preserved. For the operation of the mills, they needed: Sterna: A space that gathers the necessary driving force.

Vageni: From the exit of the cistern to the lower part, a wooden aqueduct started the "Vageni", which was about 20 meters in length and consisted of 5 m sections, four centimeters thick and 8 centimeters wide, which were attached to them by iron wings 2 large millstones. The Winger: A wooden house with a diameter of 1 meter and a thickness of 20 cm. In the circumference, on equal distances, there were holes in which the wings "wings" were wedged. Rolling the water into the vagina develops a force called falling which depends on the amount of water and the slope of its course. Thus, with the fall of the water on the impeller and with its many rapid turns, it puts the upper mill in circular motion, while the bottom is stable, resulting in the rubbing of the wheat, falling in the center of the upper mill, the sideways the millet.
