«Kastanitsa Church»
At Kapsampeli Square above the old building of Primary School there is the Patron saint of the Transfiguration of the Savior. This church was built in 1780 after the special permission of the then Turkish Turk Aga of Tripoli who had visited Kastanitsa and was very pleased with the hospitality of the residents and their beautiful gifts. In 1810 and with the money of the late Kastanitsiotis Ilias, a man of great merit of Catherine of the Great and of the founding members of the Filiki Etairia, built in 1818, it was built in Odessa and moved to Kastanica the ornate wooden iconostasis of the Russian style that still adorns the Temple dominating the Center of the Village. Together with the iconostasis at the same period, both the large coated pendants were donated and these are now in very good condition.
Next to the church building there is Kapsampeli Square, which was reconstructed in 1995 and is one of the most picturesque parts of the village. The view from the square reaches the Argolic Gulf.
